Cornerstone!

Yay!

So, last Thursday at 7:30 in the morning, my parents and I hopped into our minivan and took off for Grand Rapids, Michigan. 6.5 hours later we arrived. On Friday morning, we jumped right into life at Cornerstone!! I went to an American Literature: Realism class, which was AMAAZING.

Next we all had lunch. They had signs up over tables at lunch, and they were each labeled differently (For instance: Humanities, Education, Communication, etc.) and I hung out at the Communications table with a couple of theater majors for a while, and then chilled with the English Ed. Profs for a while. It was SPECTACULAR!! They were so innovative and intelligent (shocker, right? Men with PhDs being intelligent. ha!).

So anyway, then we met with a panel of CU Students, and then went on a tour of the campus (which is tiny and amazing and PERFECT!). Then we met with my admissions councelor, Bekka, and paid the admissions fee.

That means that I've got my place at CU reserved!!

yayyy.

So then I spent the night with a girl named Anna-Marie, and had an amazing time! The community at this school is SO great!! The two of us and six other girls spent the night watching movies, and halfway through one of the movies one of the girls stands up and goes "Okay, I think I need some God time" and everyone was just like "Okay! Have fun, dear!" and I sat there and thought to myself--'if I was in the middle of a movie with my friends, and I said that I needed some God time they'd look at me like I had a foot growing out of my forehead'.

What does that mean??

THAT MEANS I CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO CONERSTONE!!

Insomnia strikes yet again!!!

Well, I can't sleep. Not that me not sleeping is new, it's just annoying. I've got a lot on my mind with this whole college thing, and I'm not sure what to do...I've applied to 5 schools now: Carthage, Cornerstone, Wheaton, Taylor, and UW Eau Claire. They are all superb schools.

Carthage is in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which is a beautiful town. The campus is right on Lake Michigan, which is thrilling. I mean, literally, you walk to the edge of campus, look down, and there is a rocky shoal and then BAM! it's the lake.
Cornerstone is my favorite school (not sure why I didn't mention it first....). It's in Grand Rapids, Michigan, so it'll be close to my family in Indiana (only about 3 hours away!!! :cD). Two weeks before your freshman year starts, you go to a week long camp with most of the other freshman. It's called a leadership camp; you learn all about your leadership skills and how to let God work through you using those skills! Then the second week is a class. You get 4 credits for the first two weeks. WAY COOL! They also have a computer program, so I'd get a fancy shmancy laptop. Their theater program is booming as well, I'm hoping to attend one of their practices soon.
Next is Wheaton! Actually I'll address Taylor here too, because I haven't visited either. They're both amazing, top-of-the-line schools. However, this top-of-the-line thing comes at a price. Wheaton is nearly 50 gs a year. YIKES. I don't think becoming a teacher is worth that, since I'll probably only be making 20 grand a year as a teacher....if that. Taylor isn't nearly as bad, only 30 grand (Carthage=34, Cornerstone=24, but Carthage will give me 10 grand up front, and Cornerstone will give me 6.5-7.5 up front...so yeah). Anyway, I'm really excited to see if I get accepted at either...they're kind of the elitist private schools I suppose :c)

Last is UW Eau Claire. Now, let me say this first of all, I wasn't even considering going to a public school, because I really want the strong foundation of a private school. However, Eau Claire is the best school in Wisconsin at which to receive an English Education degree, so it's gotten my attention. It would be close to home, which would thrill my mom, but once again, say I'm coming home for Thanksgiving. This means that I would drive 4 hours to get home, and then 7 hours to get to IN to visit family...then another 7 back home, and then ANOTHER 4 back to campus!! Now assume I'll have homework that weekend...11 hours in a car, the entire weekend with family visiting, then another 11 in a car? I wouldn't get anything done!

Well anyway, those are my choices for schooling...they're all great, they've all got pros and cons...I just need to stop thinking about it all for now. I'll make the decision soon enough.

Not really sure, I suppose...

It's been a while since I've blogged anywhere, and I'm not really sure what I'll even use this for, if I even use it, but what the hey. :c) It's nice to have a blog again. I suppose I'll use this more as college approaches, and I'll let my family have the address for this...but we'll see.
